29- being woken up from a dead sleep

Sorry this took so long! I was really excited about this one though and I ended up getting caught a few times trying to type it out in school oops

It happened every few days, a week at the most.

But wasn’t like they could do anything to stop it.

Whenever Erwin jumped upwards in the middle of the night drenched in cold sweat, with his heart pounding in his throat and his hands shaking, it was only a matter of minutes before Levi was awake as well.

Somehow they’d always end up with Erwin’s body tucked in between Levi’s legs with his head resting against Levi’s heart. He’d take the cloth of Levi’s shirt, rubbing it in between his thumb and index finger in sync with the beating of Levi’s heart until he was calm enough to fall into a fitful sleep.

But for Levi, he’d never woken Erwin up after a nightmare. He didn’t want Erwin to lose sleep over him, no matter how much sleep he would lose for Erwin in return.

He’d simply turn over, with his heart racing and his hands unsteady, and check Erwin’s pulse out of habit before resting his head on Erwin’s chest and staring blankly at the wall until he fell asleep.

The nightmares never seemed to stop for them, and they probably never would.
